PHACIL ACHIEVES CMMI for SERVICES MATURITY LEVEL 3 STATUS

In May, Phacil’s United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Forest Service Resource Ordering and Status System (ROSS) program was re-appraised at Maturity Level 3 of the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI)® for Services (SVC). CMMI is a prestigious and internationally recognized standard for benchmarking processes. CMMI benefits organizations with overall improved performance, including decreased costs, higher on-time delivery, greater productivity, and improved quality. The Appraisal Team consisted of Phacil Employees Michelle Apicella & Ana Monzon from the ROSS Program, Njeri High from Phacil headquarters, Ilze Pukite from the NSF Program and the assistance of Theresa Fleming of the Census Program. The Appraisal Team was led by the CMMI Institute Lead Appraiser, Becky Fitzgerald of Two Harbors Consulting. The team examined the process management, project and work management, service establishment & delivery as well as support for the USDA Forest Service ROSS program.

Phacil was successfully rated at Maturity Level 3 across 20 different process areas including Configuration Management, Decision Analysis and Resolution, Product and Process Quality Assurance, Requirements & Risk Management, Service Delivery, Service Continuity, Service System Development and Transition to name just a few. An appraisal at Maturity Level 3 indicates Phacil is performing at a “defined” level, where our processes are well characterized and understood, and are described in standards, procedures, tools, and methods. Phacil’s set of standard processes, which are the basis for maturity level 3, have been established and improved over time.

“It is highly rewarding to see the exceptional team of ferociously executing professionals at our USDA Forest Service ROSS employees be recognized by this successful re-appraisal.  The USDA Forest Service ROSS team continues to demonstrate a ferocious commitment to customer satisfaction and the practice of continuous improvement,” said Don Michelli, Phacil’s Director of Business Operations. “As demonstrated by this recent appraisal, Phacil is committed to the principle of continuous improvement of our quality program which, in addition to CMMI® Maturity Level 3 appraisals for Development, also includes ISO 9001:2015 and 27001:2013 certifications.”
