Phacil Earns New CMMI Ratings for both Development and Services

< Back to news

Phacil, a leading provider of technology solutions to the Federal Government, announced today that it was appraised for two CMMI ratings – CMMI for Development (CMMI-DEV) Maturity Level 3 and CMMI for Service plus Service System Development (SVC+SSD) Maturity Level 2.

CMMI appraisals rate companies worldwide against the highest quality of process, cost, and performance standards. Very few organizations receive two CMMI ratings within a single organizational unit simultaneously. Abridge Technology performed the appraisal based on Phacil’s performance and support for the U.S. Forest Services (USFS’) Resource Ordering and Status System (ROSS) – specifically, the appraisal audited the program, personnel management, software development and enhancements, process improvements, and Tier-3 helpdesk development and support.

Phacil’s work on the USDA ROSS program allowed for an appraisal of both the Development and Services CMMI constellations, while also including the optional Service System Development (SSD) process area. Phacil was successfully rated at Capability Level 3 in eighteen different Development process areas for its CMMI-DEV appraisal and fifteen Services process areas for its CMMI-SVC+SSD appraisal, which included configuration management, decision analysis and resolution, process and product quality assurance, and risk management, to name a few.

“We are proud to have achieved a dual constellation of CMMI-DEV and CMMI-SVC+SSD ratings. They demonstrate our commitment as a firm to quality and mature business processes as well as our ability to deliver highly complex and large scale implementations,” said Phacil’s Executive Vice President, Mark Cabrey. “With CMMI as well as our ISO appraised processes, our customers have come to expect quality and standardization as well as reliable and predictable on-time delivery with regards to service delivery

CMMI is a capability improvement approach that provides organizations with the essential elements of effective processes that ultimately improve their performance. The organization’s set of standard processes is established and improved over time. At Maturity Level 2, projects have ensured that processes are planned and executed in accordance with policy. Maturity Level 3 processes are well characterized and understood, and are described in standards, procedures, tools, and methods. The projects employ skilled people who have adequate resources to produce controlled outputs, involve relevant stakeholders, and are monitored, controlled, reviewed, and evaluated for adherence to their process descriptions.
